Pizza Pies

To begin I chose my background as a cutting board. I layered circles on top of each other and filled them in with the appropriate color for the crust, sauce, and cheese. I also used the pen tool with variations of white and yellow to create a melted cheese look. Next I created the slices of pizza to correspond with each name around the larger pizza. Next I researched fun facts that apply to any kind of pizza and wrote them inside the main one. Finally I finished my infographic with the question on the bottom. How do you like your pizza?

Pear Tracing

The pair on the right, is the example that was used to trace the pair on the left. The pen tool that was used is a little tricky because you have to first make two anchor points, then hold down and drag the mouse to create the rounded edges. After the first couple edges, I got the hang of it. Finally I picked some colors to fill the pear in with and placed them side by side.

Complementary Boxes

This image started off at just 49 boxes, 12pt apart from each other. I began by selecting all 7 columns and filled the the background with the colors in the rainbow. Next I went in to each of the squares and used the shape tool to make each shape. I choose complementary colors to correspond with the colored boxes. After each of the boxes was filled with a colored shape, I removed all strokes. Next I created a new layer and made a bigger canvas. I copied the first 49 boxes, pasted and reflected the image horizontally. By using command G I was able to group the 98 boxes together and reflect those vertically.

Ethics and Design Plagiarism in New Media Arts and Design

Today ethics and design plagiarism are so important, but what is plagiarism? Plagiarism is taking someone else’s ideas or words and calling them as your own. In graphic design, Plagiarism is taking images, concepts, or artwork from another artist and replicating it as your own, or using those in your own work. Throughout this course we are asked to use google image search. In tools, click the bar down into usage rights, and choose for labeled for noncommercial reuse with modifications. All throughout my education K-12 plagiarism has been enforced in reading and writing, but never through the use of images. I think plagiarizing images is almost easier, and more unconsciously done than during research. That being said I think that it goes beyond just being a problem in school. I think as time progressed, plagiarism methods, and ways to avoid it have expanded and changed. In one of the articles large companies such as Target and Disney were at jeopardy for plagiarizing drawings of dogs on t-shirts sold by Target. In my opinion I think this is where things get a little in the grey area. For a simple drawing of a dog, a whole lawsuit has opened up. I can understand specific artwork, logos, and things like that, but to me a simple drawing of a dog seems a little much. Moving forward I think that laws should be adjusted to modify or get rid of the grey area, like in the lawsuit with the dog drawings.

Pencils

In Adobe Illustrator Iearned how to use shapes in order to make a pencil. First I began by making the squares and rectangles for the eraser and body of the pencil. As I moved on to each part, I added the desired color. Next I added anchor points to make the base of the pencil where the graphite comes out. I clicked and dragged to create the shape. Next I made a circle and placed it on top to create the graphite coming out. Finally I placed each shape to make the pencil with its corresponding color.

Social Awareness Poster

This social awareness poster is regarding drinking and driving. To create this I began by using the road background. Next I placed the inside of the car on top and erased, to have the road come through. Next I cut out the images for the mirrors and placed them in, along with the beverage in the cup holder. I also added in the motorcyclist and edited the perspective. Finally I added the call to action on the bottom and used the rounded rectangle tool to add the white behind the words.

X-Ray Men

Above is a photoshop retouching image. To begin I cropped out the border, added the multiply layer, and copied that layer to double the multiply color look. Next I merged those layers. After, I adjusted the tone, levels, and made it a black and white image. Next, I adjusted the drop down filter to exclusion. I selected the man and duplicated that layer twice. I next adjusted the the size to add more of an illusion look to it all. I added the color dodge filter to both of the little men beside him. Finally I used the burn tool to make the mans face look darker to pop more.

Retouching Images

This is one of my own photographs that I retouched in PhotoShop. To being I used auto tone, contrast, and color. Next I used the clone stamp to extend the grass down at the bottom. Following that I lighted and darkened the image in some areas using the dodge and burn tools. I also adjusted the levels to help lighten the image.

This next image I also started by adjusting the tone, color and contrast. Next I used the clone stamp to fix the specs in the water. To add the blue to the water, I used the selection tool and filled the selection with that blue. Next I added the color filter to that and adjusted the fill percent and the opacity. I repeated those steps with the pink bridge as well. Next I added a distorted filter to the water to add more texture to the water.

Fo this final image retouching I first began by adjusting the contrast, tone and levels. Next I used the blemish tool to correct the blemishes on the pumpkin. Following that, I selected the pumpkin and filled it with the blueberry color, using the color filter and adjusting the fill percent and opacity. I went back in with the brush tool and erased the some of the excess blue.

Donkey & Sombrero

First I opened up the hat in a seperate photoshop file. Next I used the rectangular marquee tool to select the image. After the image was selected I used the magic wand tool to deselect the surroundings. I selected a mask and went back and got some of the areas I missed. I copied and pasted the hat into the donkey file and created a mask of the hat. Finally I used the brush tool to erase parts of the hat to expose the donkey’s ears.
